Delilah's Gotcha Day Party!

A couple of days ago I posted about Delilah's first Gotcha Day!  She's lived with us for a year now. She got a lot of cool things for her special day and had a lot of fun.

Delilah got a couple of Outward Hound Puzzles- the Paw Flapper and the Jigsaw Glider.  She loves them and they keep her entertained for up to ten minutes.  It was a lot of fun watching her figure out the puzzles- my girl is so smart!  It's funny, the Paw Flapper (orange toy) was rated the highest difficulty by the company and the Jigsaw Glider (purple toy) was only rated a moderate difficulty, but Delilah figured out the Paw Flapper right away and still has trouble with the Jigsaw Glider.

The next toy she got is officially her new FAVORITE TOY EVER!  It's called the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball.  She SCREAMS at it whenever it starts "giggling."  She's so bad that she's not allowed to have it in the house because we live in a condo and I don't want to bother our neighbors!  I took her outside to an abandoned parking lot tonight and she chased and screamed at it for about 40 minutes. She's crazy about it.  It was on clearance at Price Chopper- best $3 I've ever spent.

The last toy she got I wasn't too impressed with.   She loved it, and now it's dead.  It's a Tuffy Boomerang by Indestructible Dog and is advertised as the "World's Tuffest Soft Dog Toy."  It didn't last an hour with a 6 lbs dog!  I'll be the first to admit my dog's... intense.  But seriously, couldn't a company that specializes in durable dog toys do a little better?

Lastly she had some doggy ice cream for dessert.  She loves that stuff! :)

  8. Hi Delilah, it is a pleasure to meet you. We are catching up on meeting the new residence of Blogville this week. We look forward to getting to know you. Hailey also has some anxiety issues we deal with, so our Lady says she is interested to hear about what works/doesn't work to help you. Looks like you got super spoiled on your gotcha day!

    1. Hey, thanks for stopping by! I plan to post more about this in the future but in general so far what has helped is a lot of exercise and counter conditioning (such as the Look At That game). Our vet gave us some calming treats and they seem to help a little but not significantly.

We're planning on hiring a trainer/behaviorist soon as well and might even try Prozac if the trainer thinks it's necessary.

BTW I love the name, Zaphod! He was my fav character in the "Hitchhiker's guide..." series.
